ACEDAutomation is an online student management system that I developed for ACED, a Kansas City based non-profit that offers continuing adult education for people with developmental disabilities.

I had previously worked at ACED, as an administrative assistant and an instructor, and got a lot of exposure into the world of developmental disabilities and education. When I worked at ACED, I was also responsible for keeping the website up-to-date, and it had some email based forms, which would then be manually inserted into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and a lot of Microsoft Word documents would be generated for each user.

After I left ACED to for a programming job, I proposed to my professor for the Software Engineering class that a lot of what is done manually at ACED could be automated, and he agreed to take upon this as a semester project.

I led a team of four developers, and as the technical lead and the program manager (bad combo), and we developed this application using Python/Django on Google App Engine. Out of two teams that developed a solution for this, ours was chosen.
